HEY @washingtonpost.com AND @nytimes.com, DO YOU THINK IT'S NEWSWORTHY THAT THE RICHEST MAN IN THE WORLD IS WALKING AROUND THE GOVERNMENT "DELETING" CHUNKS OF IT AT HIS WHIM? DO YOU THINK THIS MIGHT DESERVE A LITTLE BIT OF ALARM

Many Democrats appear to be in thrall to the idea that the public is carefully monitoring their reaction to events, and if they react stridently, they'll be blamed for overreacting.

But in reality, the public uses their reaction TO LEARN ABOUT EVENTS, and if they underreact, the public won't learn
Their current strategy appears to be the exact opposite, preaching calm and normalcy. That is a losing proposition for both them politically and for the American people and government constitutionally given this *ACTUALLY IS A CRISIS* and needs to be treated as one.
Here is what Democrats can do:

-we live in a crisis-driven media ecosystem
-a sense of crisis results in diffuse public attention - normally spread across many communication channels - focusing on a single problem, bringing massive pressure to bear
-Dems can help create a sense of crisis
