Great reporting (as usual) by Laz. I don’t know which team handled this worse - Vegas by taking away press passes or the Canes by opening their mouths. Either way it’s crystal clear these teams will never get it.
Following their acquittal, the return to the NHL of Carter Hart and Michael McLeod seems imminent.
I visited Carolina and Vegas — the two likeliest landing spots — to see how the teams are handling the possibility.

There are probably some hockey seasons that could apply here but overall agree completely with this. Felt like two completely different teams when the core of the roster didn’t change.
I've never enjoyed a sports season as much as I enjoyed last year's Mets season. I don't know if I've ever been as frustrated by a sports season as much as I've been frustrated by this year's Mets season. Just an utterly soulless team.

I know Laviolette has a shelf life & no one is surprised by this. But I’m still upset. I wanted him to coach here & still stand by fact at any other time, he would’ve lasted couple years longer. At what point do we stop going “he lost the room” and realize the room is the problem?

Literally turned on at puck drop. This league continues to leave me speechless.
Does ESPN make it to the Stadium Series game before puck drop? There’s a chance but doubt you see anything else pregame. Great job NHL giving all of your rights in US to a network who could not care less about hockey.

Between Bill Guerin and P.K. Subban and J.T. Miller and lord knows what else, these last few days have been exhausting. Somehow, 4 Nations has been an absolute dream tournament for hockey fans and also a garbage fire, all at the same time.

I know everyone wanted a rematch but how awesome would it have been to watch an entire country lose their mind for a full year over a made up tournament that will never happen again? 😕

Anyone surprised by this doesn’t follow the NHL. Rantanen could’ve had a hat trick in his first 10 games with the Canes and this still would’ve happened (cause then he would’ve “cost too much to keep”)
The speed with which hockey punditry has gone from "Mikko Rantanen is perfect for the Hurricanes because of his remarkable playoff scoring success" to "maybe we put him BACK on the trade board?!?" is truly breathtaking.

This sucks. He quietly was having a great season and made the 4th line work. Hoping for a smooth recovery.
Rangers say Adam Edström (lower-body) is going to be out for 2 and a half to 3 and a half months.

I’m convinced Rangers see ESPN/ABC on schedule and go “we need to make a big trade so they don’t talk about all the drama and bad stuff going on”. At least it gives me reason not to watch game. Didn’t want to listen to those idiots talk about Kakko & definitely don’t want to listen to them today 🙃
