Being a leftist is fun because it's mostly you and your buddies very loudly saying "this system doesn't work and if we don't do anything about it shits gonna get bad" only to be told "shut up don't be unrealistic" and then shit gets bad and those same people are like "wow I hope you're happy."

I think humans can do better than an economic system in which the actions of one ruler can wreck the entire global economy.

you often see partisan political cheerleading compared to sports, but most sports fans i've met usually have some opinions about the tactics of their favorite team, or are even willing to criticize the management when they make bad calls. political cheerleaders are less sophisticated than that

update
me: a dragon just appeared
him: yeah but I need to leave to return this sword to complete a side quest
me: you need to be more immersed! play the game like how you’d react irl
him: …this IS how I’d react irl.

And it’s true he’d ignore a dragon to finish the dishes if it was on his to-do list
update, husband-playing-skyrim-for-the-first-time is dabbling in the companions storyline and I suspect he's getting annoyed at me constantly referring to Farkas as "my husband"
*This skeet brought to you by the continued adventures of my husband playing Skyrim for the first time and who is on the Saadia/Alik'r quest and just asked if "betraying a city to the Aldmeri Dominion" was a bad thing or not, to which I replied, "oh they're the nazis."

Just a reminder that fascists, authoritarians, dictators of all stripes destroy archives— books, museums, databases, &c— because those things provide windows onto a plurality of other ways we might organize the world.

And so preserving, defending, and spreading that knowledge harms those regimes.

Vulgar standpoint theory: listen to x person just because they belong to y oppressed group.

Actual standpoint theory: people who belong to an oppressed group generally have experiences of oppression. This places them in a better epistemic position to collectively develop knowledge of it.
