Medieval picnic food!
"To make light frayses" (and bonus "To pickle mushrooms") from Elinor Fettiplace's Receipt Book.

These butter-fried hybrids of an omelet and a pancake were eaten both hot and cold, sweet and savory. They can be filled with just about anything!

Yummmmmmmm
Another hit from Elinor Fettiplace's Receipt Book! I like this recipe because it's incredibly close to what we would consider a modern dish in culinary technique, even with a decidedly pre-modern flavor profile.

Who doesn't love Custard? It seemed overly laborious to interpret eight different recipes for what is essentially the same thing. Instead, enjoy a discussion of the variations, with a base recipe you can work from to suit your tastes.

I kind of love this silly little illusion dessert from the mid-15th century. I think I'm going to make the proper 1-gallon size of it with a whole rosemary bush in at some point.

Not sure what I'm using my personal account for, but I am going to try pushing my website content out on my SCA account. So follow that if you want to do SCA stuff with me or just look at that when I post it.
I went for two today (three, really).. why not? "a Tarte that is a courage to a man or woman..." which is to say bestows sexual prowess on anyone who eats it. This recipe has the often omitted Burdock Root, but it does not, in fact, include brains.

Finally got around to processing my native passion fruit. Got about 2lbs which is very good for a first year fruiting. Question is what I'll do with them now.. this enough for one recipe without seeds or two recipes with, probably. I'm thinking a tart with the seeds in would be interesting.

Rescued from HomeGoods and de-blinged... Was ringed with horrible plastic pearls and rhinestones. Remember kids, CA glue degrades at 225F in the oven. Go score inexpensive holiday servingware and rescue it. You can even use it for the holidays then dress it down if you want. This was $60, not $600.

1 c. Karo or Golden Syrup
1 t. Vanilla Extract
4 T. Butter, soft

The most baking I've done in an age, but who doesn't love pecan pie.

Do I like this format or understand it? No. But am I having a good time? Also no... I'm officially too old for new technology, but I'm not too old to strap on my boots and resist fascism in whatever ways I can manage.

I suggest inflicting bludgeoning damage in response.
-5 psychic damage every time someone tells me they can't remember "they/them" pronouns.

I just used those pronouns in a sentence (above). Miss me with that.

Have I been watching too many garden design shows and convinced myself I need tiny water features to act as reflecting pools? Maybe.. This is a Milky Way Kousa anchoring the West beds, flanked by strawberry foxglove, astilbe, dicentra, hellebores, umbrella plant, anemones, and lamiums.. .
