I saw the video. He doesn't sound Eastern European to me (not an expert in accents, but he sounds Egyptian and he's been identified as Egyptian). If he did have an Eastern European accent, that in no way links him to Russia or Putin. No need to ask your question based on the information at hand.

While I agree with Robin that Labour’s knee-jerk shift to the right reflects a simplistic view of the British public, I’m similarly not convinced that the 80-somethings at his poetry readings or XR marches are representative of their generation—or the country at large.
