Been making some progress on the mansion level. This first section takes place outside and mostly involve combat but the rest of the level takes you inside the mansion and features more stage hazard and platforming.

Well couldnt really incorporate the nuance in the last post due to character limit but i meant more in the sense of the first encounter being based on the fear of confronting the monster who ruined her life and the second being the fear that she became just the same. Its an interesting duality.

Now that i think of it, there is this interesting dichotomy between her first and second encounter with Ridley.
In the first one, it was her first time confronting the cause of much of her trauma and overcoming it.
But the second time, she had commited a massacre of her own...She was just like him

oh yeah, does feel like a lot of those plot points would have worked in some kind of prequel or soft reboot of metroid 1
But having all of this take place after super metroid feels like its regressing her character instead of progressing it.

Fro mwhat i udnerstand, it was kind of a john wick situation where Doom guy family had already been killed by the demons and the butchery of Daisy is what truly pushed him over the hedge as she was the only family he had left.

I think she didn't trust herself to care for the baby Metroid (she did kind of kill its whole species) and still believed the Federation was good at the time.
Learning what the federation actually did with it in fusion probably was a bit part of how she gets radicalised against it.

I think of her as very alike Doom guy. Someone who has lost everything and wants to do everything she can to prevent others from suffering the way she did.

I thought similarly, especially as most of the games dont really mention her getting financially compensated for the extremely dangerous missions she goes through.
Maybe Fusion as she was sent by the federation, but she also disobeyed them so she probably isnt getting paid for that one either.

Interestingly, i do think she happens to be really close to doom-guy as they are both these deeply caring individuals who have lost everyone that mattered to them and now live to deliver extreme violence to those who dare to hurt or endanger the innocent.

Id also add that there probably could be some added weight to the moment with the baby metroid as Samus herself was both the last survivor of a massacre from the space pirates and of the Chozo extinction.
