Not sure why you wanna take this to the QTs, but Avatar 2 WAS planned, ie not a legacy sequel. Wait time is really zero indicator of a sequel’s success. The best sequel ever IMO, T2, came out 7 years after the first. I could cite examples all day, but you wanna work with your weird flawed math 🤷♀️

This is a really imperfect metric. There was a 30-year wait before Mad Max: Fury Road, 36 years before Top Gun Maverick… hell, even an example you cite here, Avatar, had a 13-year wait in between sequels and The Way of Water still crossed $2 bil. Hollywood is far from an exact science.
