Into regeneration of communities through the re-use of old buildings
Pinned
At this time of year I turn to painting. Here's Pascal the fox, who I painted last year. Still not happy with how I paint fur, but practice makes perfect! Off to finish a hare that I started last Christmas.

A couple of moonlit hares have finished my acrylics on Welsh slate painting after a week of inspiration in the Radnor Forest.

Finished off the week with a visit to Bourne Town Hall Trust where a passionate group of volunteers are breathing new life into the building & bringing it back into the heart of the community.

It's a real privilege to be able to help passionate people like this through @heritagenetwork.bsky.social

As someone born with a limb difference in 1972 within a mile of a Stewart's and Lloyds steelworks, do I really want to watch Toxic Town?

Happy Winter Solstice to all in the northern hemisphere.

The turn of the year's tide, a pivot-point, a day of hope—when the dark stops rising & after which the Sun begins its slow climb back.
A day I celebrate more than Christmas or New Year.

Fiat lux!

The day has finally come! I've taken delivery of new #OpenBionics arm through the NHS. Very relieved that I won't need to raise the funds again!

I assumed that most orgs use alt text on socials. After all why would they exclude people?
I added this Chrome extension and oh was I wrong!

If your org isn't using alt text ask them to add it & stop excluding a swathe of society/customers/colleagues.

Having a not good mental health day. Won’t go into details but every thought is difficult. If you’re struggling too, in whatever way, I’m sending love. Here are some small lovely things arranged neatly by my daughter. It’ll help your brain a little if it’s anxious & low. I’m staring at it too tbh:

Trying to keep warm and dry today and thinking back to better weather. I fell in love with this ruin near Loch Melfort on Scotland's west coast. It was guarding a slipway down to the waves, and I wondered if it had sheltered weary travellers over the centuries.

It's coming up to the season of my guilty pleasure, the film 'The Holiday'. I don't usually go for rom coms but I could watch this over and over. Probably because of the cottage!

Can you believe it was just a prop?

Anyone here also partial to blinging up random things? I do love when my sparkly bionic gig arm catches the lights at gigs ✨

Even better when it gets signed!

Pleased to hear the Heritage Council will soon be convened by the Heritage Minister in this reply to Jamie Stone MP “Since the General Election, the SoS @DCMS & her ministerial team have met with a wide range of stakeholders in the heritage sector…” 1/2

I know it's 16 years old, but 'Coventry Market the Musical' brought a smile to my face this morning.

Would love to know if other towns/cities have ever tried similar? I really wish we'd attempted to recreate it at the @heritagenetwork.bsky.social conference in Cov 😅

Snow is falling in London (son sent us a video!) so thought you might like a reminder that here in Scotland we name the gritting machines and there’s a site that tracks where they all are!

Any #Evaluation consultants out there? This is a great opportunity to help us make a huge difference in the grass roots heritage sector.

If you're in England and not yet certified carbon literate, book yourself onto 1 of our training courses (2 half days) in the new year.

Enlightening, fascinating and ultimately incredibly useful. You won't regret paying £10 for your certification!
