I think having the capacity for mercy and compassion does not make you a motherly figure just because you’re a woman.

I don’t think saving a baby animal and then giving it to the authorities makes you a motherly figure.

That’s my point though. People like Anthony even though on paper he’s very much the same kind of thing (Except even worse because of the Ridley cutscene that everyone has memory holed).

Hey remember when Metroid had a comic relief sidekick who called Samus “Princess” and yelled at Ridley, “Hey, don’t you know how to treat a lasy?”

Dread is usually near or at the top of fan polls. The people who don’t like it are just loud.

Prime is arguably just Super Metroid again.

Most of the ancient civilizations in Metroid are just different Chozo societies.

I think there is a very wide gulf between “There is no story” and “You are being talked to constantly”.

Super Metroid doesn’t have talking past the intro. Prime has only logs. Prime 2 has a guy who tells you what you need to do to save his species and is otherwise taciturn.

Yeah it’s really weird that metroid fans are not nintendo stockholders.

A lot of people hated the EMMI sections though.

I think it comes from the game implying that parrying and slow stealth are effective ways to deal with EMMI and not just fallbacks for when you get caught.

Dread is a game about constant forward movement. The EMMIs are all designed to be new types of challenges for movement, either through being more mobile than you or limiting your mobility options. You are not supposed to just sit still while cloaked. It’s a fallback.

Fusion is designed to give new context to those games. Like how Samus sparing the baby Metroid becomes something that ultimately saved the galaxy, rather than just endangering it.

But it still is ultimately Fusion pulling that weight.

She has only objected to implied shadiness in Fusion and Other M, and one of those was Other M.

The first 3 games don’t have much to say about government other than it can be incompetent (Losing Metroids to the pirates) and thoughtless (ordering the extermination of a species that can be good).

The uncomfortable truth of internet communities is that a little too much moderation is always better than too little moderation.

Samus having the Omega Pirate just fall on top of her after that boss fight is still the funniest Metroid moment.
