Very proud of this paper in BioScience :

« Too cute to be wild: what teddy bears reveal about our disconnection from nature »

🧸 are more than toys, they shape among our first emotional connections to nature. But their design may also distort how we see wildlife !

Mississippi banned deer feeders because they may help spread chronic wasting disease. In response to doubts about whether feeders were riskier for CWD transmission than other areas, researchers conducted a study using camera traps and swabs.

This isn't going to get the attention of Columbia, but it's at least as bad: the University of Maine is having its funding cut off because the governor of Maine dared to challenge Trump.
I'm appalled by the USDA's decision to pause funding to the University of Maine System.

This will hurt our farmers, halt critical research, and impact students throughout Maine.

Once again, our state is being targeted for retribution—all because our officials are standing up for the rule of law.

Making a difference in your community, within your circle, or to your friends/colleagues is where it all starts
I can't speak for anyone else,

But a thing that I am finding is really helping me to get through all this nonsense

is helping others.

It can be something small- sharing a job ad with a fired colleague, looking over a resume- or something larger.

But helping others helps me.
