Because the animation industry has collapsed and everything is uncertain, I've picked up some part-time work while applying for everything in my field that comes up or is recommended. Part of this is also being in communication with employment services. (1/3)

I've been thinking that the likeliest solution is for people to simply not put their work up on social media. Maybe have a couple of samples, and if someone wants to see something, maybe a password protected video or portfolio can be sent. As it is, this will never work for artists

If these programs are phased out, we will erase a generation of "*sigh*, who else here is a product of the gifted kid to underperforming perfectionist adult pipeline?"-type people, and that would be a tragedy.
My wife is an elementary gifted ed specialist. The idea that gifted kids either don't exist or don't benefit from gifted education services is both wrong and harmful to those kids. Phasing out gifted programs is stupid. www.nytimes.com/2025/10/02/n...

Specifically around art and animation, I feel a weariness has set in. Even if I was a little curmudgeonly, I generally thought positively and was always excited about the possibilities of what could be made... but these days I just don't know anymore.
