The Brisbane Broncos have unveiled a full rebrand, including a brand-new logo. The new logo comes almost 20 years after the rugby league clubs last rebrand in 2006. The updated logo features a forward-facing Bronco inside a shield - a nod to the club's original 1988 logo - and a line running up the back of the Bronco's neck to represent the Brisbane River. Deleted the A House of Dynamite thread in favour of the slightly more refined Letterboxd version. Despite not being particularly keen on it I do like that it made me enthusiastic about engaging with it, lol.
Another Bluesky capsule: thrilling right up until the moment it becomes clear that this is a propaganda film with exactly one point to make. (It's one I agree with! Sadly a film with one simple thesis is a boring film.) It is a fairly sophisticated propaganda film: the character work is efficient and effective and, amongst other things, there's a neat, slow, almost imperceptible deflation of a shot that would have an entirely different meaning in a jingoistic context. (It turns out that fit, beautiful American bodies aren't particularly heroic; they're just another piece of the machinery.) ‪ It can probably be summarised by a conversation that occurs at a Gettysburg reenactment: the use of audio from the fake conflict to underscore the urgency of the real one is exciting, and the follow-up allusion to Lincoln's address is very, very blunt.

Read the book du jour. And it's great! Film nerds should know that swathes of it are a fictionalisation of the Dau project, that it uses to talk about art, surveillance and the built environment. Oh and it turns out that film directors are great stand-ins for petty tyrants. Who knew?

My hand looks terrible. But it's because I engaged in manual labour with men and, seeing as this book is partially about surviving that kind of environment, it's kind of appropriate.

Sound techs do not want to ruin shows! Not all of us are perfect but we're trying to make shit sound good. We may be limited by the rooms, gear, ( and sometimes perfs!) we work with. Sometimes the client wants something odd and, welp, they're paying for us.
Setting the counter back to 0 for days since a bad sound person ruined a show Imagine holding that much power and using it to ruin a fantastic set

However, BBC Studios owns Bluey's global distribution and merchandising rights.
