Been thinking more about this and it's not even really invoked as a mandate by voters so much as a monarchic mandate of the people. Trump's power isn't from voters, it's from The Heartland.

I'm glad you mentioned the New Inquiry article but disappointed you did not veer wildly off course to discuss the "street epistemology" part of that article.
