also, since I've defended the man (whom I deplore and greatly dislike) here, let me do so again - at least in this render, the *exterior* doesn't look so bad
it hardly matches the excesses of historic Fascist architecture like Speer's Volkshalle design or the Vittoriano in Rome

Interesting thoughts from a great novelist, as quoted by @bpdflores.bsky.social

one thing I will say is that imo guys like Pugin and Dom Roulin (who basically thinks baroque vestments are objectively ugly) are kinda right for the most part
these are the ideal vestment says me
too bad these aren't the kinds of Gothics most priests wear nowadays

I have read much of Josef Jungmann's commentary on Sacrosanctum concilium (Commentary on the Documents of Vatican II, ed. Herbert Vorgrimler, vol. 1)
it is honestly extremely illuminating and sometimes disappointing
incomprehensible to me that the structure of traditional Vespers is clericalist

Oh yes
The Romanesque I believe is where both the quire and the earlier versions of the screen come from
A good example is San Clemente
And imo modern Romanesque is a glad echo of paleochristian art
