If you're gifting books this year and can't make it to an independent bookstore in person, don't forget that you can buy from them online too!

Some stores have their own online ordering service, or you can use bookshop.org and choose an indie store to support!

Don't shop amazon! Shop local! 💙📚
Bookshop.org: Buy books online. Support local bookstores.
A better way to buy books online. Every purchase financially supports local independent bookstores.

💙📚 This article is both enlightening and frightening. We have known for years that there is a literacy crisis in the United States, but there is a lack of understanding of what that means. This article is an in depth exploration of one of the key reasons why.

Reminder that September is National library card month, so you should totally go get a library card! Yes, they have books, but many also have dvds, cds, video games, game systems, hot spots, streaming services, ebooks, audio books, park passes, museum passes, and more! Maybe it's time for a visit!

Apparently it's #childrensbookday, so here is one of my favorite children's books! I used to read it whenever I woke up from a nightmare and couldn't get back to sleep. It was my introduction to @ursulakleguin.com, and it's still a solid favorite. 💙📚

My new book, Everything Is Tuberculosis, explores the history of our deadliest infectious disease. It's also about our horrifying present: TB still kills kills over a million people per year, even though it's been curable since the 1950s.

Considering unfollowing all press outlets because I get enough of it everywhere else and just want my feed to be books and cats and pretty pictures

Also, if anyone has accounts that post art and/or coziness I am 100% taking recommendations

For my sanity, I will be at home tonight cuddling my cat and avoiding anything that could tell me anything about anything.
