Gradient canes! After this things went a bit pear-shaped - it's hard to maintain the circular crosssection. Can't believe I didn't immediately master a skill the first time I tried it, this is an OUTRAGE. What is the point of Instagram if it shows me pottery techniques it takes years to perfect? 😤

Here's a fun ("") one for the "AI sucks" portfolio. A clay company is taking tons of heat for not realizing that a product page for their kiln cones had been autopopulated by Shopify's "helpful" AI tool, which suggested the cones are edible 🤦🏼♀️ People are now saying they don't trust the other content.

This garage pottery studio thing is amazing. I kept worrying I didn't have time for pottery, but what I didn't have time for was popping over to the studio a million times just to check things and catch them at the right stage for the next step. Plus all my STUFF is on hand, like my 3D printers.

I had some warped plates so I decided to do some glaze tests - my community studio uses Laguna BMix and then adds speckle to the reclaim, and I want to start using more reclaim (pottery is expensive y'all 😅) so I wanted to know how my glazes might react.

The pumpkin patch is like.. ASMR for my eyes. The colors and textures are euphoric.

What *I* want is to have a smoother edge to the raised areas, more like a CNC router or something would do. I see people doing it so there must be a way, I just don't know it. Idk if I'm looking for chamfer, fillet, bevel, or maybe editing the pattern for more of a depth-map..?

Rushed to buy this as soon as I saw the blurb and have not been disappointed so far! The arguments & findings here are very consistent with what I've seen in pretrial spaces, where the conditions of pretrial supervision only further embroil the least-resourced, most struggling people in the system.
