Economic-progressive Dem posting on politics, law, pet-rescue efforts. Was prolific on Twitter/X. Native Upper Midwesterner living in north central FL. Anti-lawn movement fan. #Berner since '15. Have cats. Views my own, but you may borrow them.

MAGA - gov't controlled solely by Trump - really is every aspect of US gov't & society controlled by industry - finance, tech & fossil fuel - billionaires to serve their own & his ends.

If Dems make THIS the central '26-'28 election cycle issue, they're rout the GOP.

A federal three-judge panel on Wednesday allowed North Carolina to use a redrawn congressional map aimed at flipping a seat to Republicans as part of President Donald Trump’s multistate redistricting campaign ahead of the 2026 elections. https://to.pbs.org/3LYZcw9
Judges allow North Carolina to use a map drawn in bid to give Republicans another U.S. House seat
The map targets the state's only swing seat, held by Democratic Rep. Don Davis, who represents over 20 northeastern counties.

I'd never heard of either of these two before, much less their podcast and Substack, but I just happened upon it.

I'm absolutely stunned at how terrific they are and this episode is.

You'll really, really should listen to this episode.

Bullies, oligarchs, and White supremacists often inveigh against loss of “civility” or “manners” when those protesting injustice disturb their “polite society” and cocoon of denial. That transparent but effective trap seeks to keep “those people” in their “place.”

I keep seeing this prediction now. So ... nothing at all against Mark Kelly, but anyone who believes that this assinity will matter in the Dem '28 WH primaries apparently hasn't noticed that it's structural-economic progressivism that's reaching fever pitch.

I can't believe we now live in a country where you have to make a justification for why the most common sense in the world makes common sense.

It's like persecuting somebody for saying the Sun will come up tomorrow because you're pro darkness.

Art. I of the Constitution gives Congress the power to make rules and regulations for the armed forces — including codes of discipline and strictures against following illegal orders. You can’t punish members of Congress for articulating those rules. Also protected by Speech and Debate Clause.

The piece just below it is just as good: "One sometimes wonders about Democratic strategists: Have they never noticed that negative ads and messages work?"

Don't get me started on that.

Most troops at Fort Benning didn’t know their base honored a man who never served in the U.S. Army and vowed he’d rather see “famine and pestilence” than end slavery.

1/ Thanks for the reading suggestions. I’ve some on early Nazi history, and the parallels are just obvious. Focused more on Goebbels, and how he turned a smart nation fascist, without social media, or advanced marketing techniques based on clinical research. A few things stood out. Short list:
