As I say here, this is not about saving the planet. The planet will be orbiting the sun long after we’re gone.

The question is, will there be a healthy, thriving human society on that planet? The answer to that question is very much up for grabs at this point.

12. This is why I rail against it. There are things we can do now, which are not prevented by the legacy of those who lived a century ago, eg switching to a plant-based diet or swapping fossil fuels for renewables. Let’s grasp some simple arithmetic, stop shifting blame, and do what we can. 12/12

11. It’s not just that people are wasting their time. "Population concern” also distracts people from things we *can* change. And, in many cases, transfers blame for the huge consumption impacts of wealthy people to Black and Brown people in poorer nations. At worst it’s straight-up racism. 11/12

10. “Greenwwashed” is desperately clinging to an idea long after the evidence has departed. It includes a radical and comical misreading of my “private sufficiency, public luxury” idea. I’m not promoting this to raise the human population, but to *accommodate* it, today and in the future. 10/12

An uninsurable world isn’t a future idea. Climate risks are rising so fast that insurers are pulling back, leaving some regions nearly impossible to cover.
