Here's my latest thinking on totals for Tuesday. 1st of the season can be tricky. Remember snow bands likely shift with data. During the day this time of year grass accumulates more than roads. Focus on idea of bands, not exact placement. Updates tomorrow. 🙏#Winter #snow

I helped make a film, out this week, called “Rovina’s Choice,” about the deaths this man without conscience or accountability has caused — already 600,000, ⅔ of them children.

Which doesn't stop them from denying claims big and small.
UnitedHealth just posted $4.3 BILLION in profit last quarter —
even after losing customers.

How? Uncle Sam’s money. 💸
78% of its revenue now comes from taxpayers — mostly Medicare Advantage.

Corporate welfare in a lab coat.

Even as it lost thousands of customers in its commercial and Medicaid plans, UnitedHealth made billions in profits… thanks to a Medicare Advantage cash stream.

This beautiful volume, a longtime passion project of my husband's, is out now. If you don't know the work of John Guare, treat yourself--he's one of our most important, funny, and original playwrights. (And as a bonus, the book includes his great Atlantic City screenplay!) www.loa.org/books/plays/

Was glad to have the opportunity to join Morning Edition today — despite being, emphatically, not a morning person — to chat about the looming cuts to Medicaid. (Tough to hit all of the essential points in five minutes, though.)

The coolest thing I’ve seen today is that a bunch of volunteer public health professionals and developers have restored the CDC website from before January 20th 2025.

This differs from an archive in that they want to rebuild the links between pages and replicate the full website.

My big focus right now: trying to understand what RFK Jr’s role will be in a Trump administration, what he wants to do, and how he could do it.
