This is what defund the police looks like and means. Its about funding programs appropriately and not stripping everyone bare to only fund the police.
One year, 4,464 calls, 92% required no police intervention. The Alternative Neighbourhood Crisis Response (ANCHOR) in Centretown is sending the right people to help in cases of mental health or substance use crises. It represents the de-tasking of police and it works.

Oh, this is a delight. Can it go on for a week or so, so we can really experience the unfolding traffic apocalypse?
Morris has been reduced to one lane for water work. I assume the port has shut down and ambulances are refusing to even try answering calls in the area.

First Council "doesn't represent" constituents while mayor mysteriously does. Now it's protecting Morris as a thru-way for port traffic??? Residential school-zone and huge 18-wheelers??? If port traffic's an issue, make Hollis and Lower Water no parking, two lanes. Both have lots. And furthermore...

The question of 'do we cancel?' in the downtown core on a Sunday morning should really only have to be about looking out the window on a Sunday morning. Not about having to factor in ice-covered sidewalks from three days before. This really isn't good enough, @hfxgov.bsky.social.

The part that makes me saddest about this is that there's anyone on frontline staff ANYWHERE, never mind at a LIBRARY, who needs a freaking "policy" to break down their apparent comfort saying no when a lost child asks to use a phone to call home. Unbelievable.
This is #TorontoDanforth

"We all have a collective responsibility to ensure the safety of our youth," @meganysta.bsky.social

It's a disappointing incident that goes against so much of what the #torontolibrary stands for, a safe space for children. #ImLibraryPeople
