Architectural historian (women’s spaces in the long 19th century), PhD candidate (Courtauld), knitter, politically progressive and culturally effusive. Was a lawyer back in the day. US—>UK, based in Bath (& sometimes London). I love a good fountain pen.
Listen, a paycheck is a paycheck, amirite? 🤭

Yeah, it’s a swing and a miss with this job recommendation for me, LinkedIn.

Modern-day Hemingway, if he were British.

One of the best parts of going on-site to work/school at The Courtauld is that I get to indulge my love of Victorian institutional architecture up close. #notlistedbutiloveit

The man in glasses behind Farage is a mood and I’m here for it.

So our cat Zelda apparently loves Ed Davey. Honestly, just relieved she’s not a Tory.

Took Sally Lunnsbunns to the Royal Crescent today; she was a fan because she matches the Bath stone almost perfectly.

One serious pose, and one where she tried to give me massive kisses.

Wait a sec…are you suggesting that these pods are not actually cleaning my dishes at the subatomic level? Huge, if true.

Not only did I participate in the economic blackout, I spent TA-payday money at the William Morris Gallery gift shop, which is like EXTRA socialist. IYKYK.

Great day to teach on-site!! ✊

In light of Trump’s autocratic “We are the federal law” statement today, I thought I’d share this image of the frontispiece of “Leviathan”. This was a primary work we taught this term in the “Body Politics” module of Foundations of Art History.

Way to stay relevant, Hobbes. Wish ya weren’t.

Tbh I don’t hate the concept. 👀

Best work week! Gave a guest lecture, saw the Reinhart collection @ the Courtauld gallery, & the discussions in class today were just 🤩. I love teaching so much, I hope they let me do it forever.

My 2 favourites from the exhibit posted as tax (1 is in the news this week tinyurl.com/yc769yf8):

Tom Robbins, you genius, rest in peace. My copy of SLwW is 30+ years old—dogeared & highlighted, notes in the margins—and it has moved with me everywhere. It altered me at a fundamental level, and brought me such joy.

Can’t help but kick off tomorrow’s Art History seminar with discussion prompted by this slide (even though it has nothing to do with the Academy and lithography/photography). Current and future historians of all disciplines, get angry about this!!!
