Under the DC Home Rule act, Trump is allowed to federalize DC police during an emergency (which doesn’t exist right now), but only for 48 hours. This can possibly be extended to 30 days with notice to Congress, but it’s also subject to judicial review.

It’s becoming clear that this is a war, not against poverty, but against the poor and the working and middle classes. All these accusations of “waste, fraud and abuse” are against programs that help non-wealthy people. The GOP is the rich man’s party; always has been and always will be.

It is interesting how irrelevant all the calls for not engaging on these issues because it will "raise the salience" of something that supposedly automatically favors Trump now appear.
A remarkable thing about Trump losing the battle for public opinion over rendition is that he lost *despite* a right-wing media effort to blackout the crux of the whole scandal. That only happens when a) Dems are united or b) stuff like this pierces the veil.

A friend of mine has coined the term “Pinocheting” to describe what the government is doing to these prisoners.
Stop calling it deporting, so MAYBE more Americans will get it. "Deporting" is sending someone back, after due process, to the country they came from, where they arrive a free person. This is human trafficking to a foreign torture prison for the rest of their lives. GET THE LANGUAGE RIGHT.
