Agreed. So proud to have @governorwalz.mn.gov as our governor and moral role model. Where is your North Star @donaldjtrump-maga.bsky.social ? Why were not there? Shame on you.
It's incredible that neither the president nor VP was here. The politicization of all facets of American life is coming from the White House. No other American president would have failed to pay their respects. www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2025/...
Tim Walz eulogizes slain lawmaker as a historic Minnesotan — and friend
After a hug with Kamala Harris, Gov. Tim Walz eulogized slain state Rep. Melissa Hortman as “the most consequential speaker in Minnesota history.”

Thanks for this. We here in MN are devastated by this. @kamalaharris.com and Joe Biden coming to the funeral sends a message of compassion we so badly need. Where is your North Star @donaldjtrump-maga.bsky.social ? Where were you? Shame on you.
I can't tell if it's because I'm too NYC focused but does it feel like the news cycle spent more time crashing out on the fact that NYC picked a brown Muslim dude as is primary candidate then it did on a right wing extremist who shot 2 Minnesota legislators killing one, her husband and dog?

A great-but deeply frightening read. I’ve always believed one has to be at least temporarily insane to do what he did. My question-how can we counter this? All ears.
"In these situations, one expects to hear that the shooter was in the midst of a psychotic episode." Instead, he was a seemingly functional, deeply religious family man. That is terrifying.
The Growing Threat of Homegrown Religious Extremism
The alleged Minnesota assassin was known as a ‘deeply religious’ Christian man. That should be an alarm bell for all of us.

Please read. Wish we still had Oly-our 13 1/2 yo golden retriever who we would take to the park with a “pet me” sign. I bet all the Goldens-including our 3-were at the Rainbow Bridge to welcome and comfort Gilbert. I hope the Rainbow Bridge is real and that Gilbert did not suffer.
“The best way to honor our parents' memory is to do something, whether big or small, to make our community just a little better for someone else."

Beautiful statement from Sophie and Colin Hortman.

During the Daunte Wright protests here in MN, the trauma provider group from the University of MN pleaded with us to call non lethal weapons “less than lethal.” One young man lost an eye, another a brain bleed from a rubber bullet. Words are important!

So proud to live in MN! I volunteer in an elementary school & lunches are great! Of course I pay for my lunch-but so worth sitting w kids. No state is perfect, of course, but at least @governorwalz.mn.gov and our state leadership act like adults and know how to compromise. Many thanks.
Minnesota was just ranked the 5th best state for child wellbeing — here’s why:

✅ Free school meals
✅ Nation-leading Child Tax Credit
✅ Paid family and medical leave
