🚨review paper alert: non-invasive prenatal screening (NIPS) traditionally predicts common trisomies.
NIPS data however also contains genetic signal to predict additional complications: malignancies, rare autosomal trisomies confined to the placenta, monogenic disorders and common genetic risks.
Expanding the scope of non-invasive prenatal screening
Nature Genetics - Cell-free DNA from non-invasive prenatal screening reflects the maternal and fetal genome and epigenome. This Review discusses its analysis for actionable pregnancy complication...

Honoured to see an article about my research on extra-pair paternity in @science.org. Many thanks to journalist @spoke32.bsky.social for the story and to all colleagues for their quotes!
Hopefully, future visitors to my office will be less surprised by a (reproduction) 17th-century painting...
