Demonstrations took place in over 75 Italian cities. In Milan, there were clashes at the main train station and a handful of students were detained. Everywhere else, protests were completely peaceful. Of course, all major Italian media are leading with the clashes.

my academic framing may actually undersell even the understated diplomatic framing of the original statement, which essentially indicates that an IDF *tank* fired on a UNIFIL tower and two peacekeepers fell out (and, somehow, were only moderately injured)

So many advocates for Israel treat it as a besieged ghetto in the middle east rather than a sovereign state, because they know that sovereign states can and often do horrible things, and they do not want to face up to that knowledge.
