There is not a single political party or mass movement in Palestine that advocates for this idea. Or in Israel for that matter.

A British politician making such statement is doing imperialism pure and simple. Giving up on an independent Palestinian state is for Palestinians to decide on. Not you.

Wasn’t easy to devise something more patronizing than a "technocratic, apolitical Palestinian committee" to "temporarily" govern Gaza under Trump's supervision. And yet.

Tens of thousands joined the general strike across Italy against the genocide in Gaza+Italian gov's complicity. 100.000 in Rome alone. Two poignant things: many primary school teachers marched with their students; when the protest blocked the ring road, drivers got out to applaud the demonstrators.

Given Israel's Kahanist government, it was already on 7 Oct that genocide in Gaza is a real possibility. I personally did not know when the accumulation of Israeli crimes would cross that threshold. Two things could have stopped it: both failed.

There is not a single Israeli reporter, analyst, academic or commentator that I know of, who thinks that Netanyahu was "simply waiting for Trump" to take the same deal that was on the table in May 2024.

So many advocates for Israel treat it as a besieged ghetto in the middle east rather than a sovereign state, because they know that sovereign states can and often do horrible things, and they do not want to face up to that knowledge.
