If he'd traded more future-focused, for like Mo Wagner, Suggs and a bunch of picks and pick-swaps, he'd still be killed, but it'd make more sense.

I think that's the best argument to make... the upside was fine (already) and the downside is terrible.

The 'good-enough' issue is not the peaks, but the longevity. Kyrie was/is also aging, so you needed Luka to keep being productive & healthy way into the future to compete in the West.

1000%.

The only real hope is the media or foreign governments ratcheting things up WAY past where they’ve been willing to go so far. And since that hasn’t happened for random govt killings and collapsing the economy, prob isn’t going to happen either.

The idea that Luka needed to get in shape and it wasn’t going to happen (based on 5+ years) in Dallas looks correct.

How much of a better player that makes Luka is up for debate, but that doesn’t enter into the Dallas side of it because he wouldn’t do it there.

In BF Skinner's experiments, rats would be given opiods if they hit a lever. Skinner discovered that a lever that dispensed the opiods reliably would get the rats to take as much as they wanted then stop, but a lever that irregularly and unreliably dispensed the drugs would get them to overdose.
This is a side note but something I find striking is how little engagement these influencers get compared to pre-Elon twitter, but it doesn’t seem to register with them
