Turns out that centuries of economic thought are correct: increasing the supply of a good will, all things being equal, lower the price of the good.

Weird that people talk themselves out of this obvious insight when it comes to housing.

The reason is simple: A boom in apartment construction. Developers are pulling permits at a rate nearly triple that of San Antonio on a per capita basis.

I am happy to see our work from @urbaninstitute.bsky.social showing the importance of upping transit service in Colorado's new transportation vision.

There is a close association between more service & more ridership; agencies that brought back more service from 2019 have recovered more riders.

You love to see it. NIMBYs attempting to block more housing in the most expensive city in Colorado have been defeated in court, and in part thanks to 106(a)(4) reform changes endorsed by @yimbydenver.bsky.social !

Austin built a LOT of new homes over the past few years, leading to lower rents and higher vacancy rates, providing relief to renters and giving renters more negotiating power over landlords.

Crazy fact: only 10 years ago, there were more housing units in San Francisco than Austin, TX. Now Austin has basically 100k more units and is still building at 5-10x the pace of SF.
