As a single person I'm incredibly irritated by this. It's discriminatory and also total rubbish. Note to self: Remember to take Nanny with me if I fancy going to a wine bar.

Delighted to find on YouTube the old 1970's series about the Silk Road, which so captured my imagination as a child. It's a bit dated but still an absolute wonder to watch youtu.be/8qer5yTyYvI?...

Surprising morning. Stopped at a level crossing...to let a steam train go by. Then overtaken by a fire engine, who stopped a few yards ahead where the engine of a Range Rover was on fire. Scary looking. Claude felt quite ill

Watching a cookery competition, much amused that acronym for the Culinary Institute of America (Anthony Bourdain's old school) is the CIA. Am still doing a bit of a double take every time a chef says "I've been with the CIA for X years". It would make for a great mistaken identity comedy thriller.

Love the 2021 remake of West Side Story. Really strong musicians and dancers, and beautifully filmed. Shame that it had such a tough time at the box office. Great to see Rita Moreno again too.

It must be 30 years since I last saw the Channel 4 drama, Traffik. Watching it again reminds me how good it was with some wonderful performances, and photography. Excellent series.

Fascinated to notice while looking at the history of West Side Story that George Chakiris who played the leader of the Sharks in the original film production played the leader of the Jets in the first London production in 1958. Bit of a role reversal.

Found the film that inspired Rodgers and Hammerstein to write The sound of music. It's such a sweet film. I think it influenced the film version of the musical even more with some very familiar costumes and sequences.
