worth pointing out you’re on an uncontested road weekend and a new mtb series and an classic mtb race is the day after your race. in the month everyone is transitioning from finishing school to summer vacation

GPB had less than twenty masters and half of them would have been fine racing in one of the other fields
it’s your choice to run either a W beginner, a straight cat 5 M, or? . more of the athletes are there, and you can tune the remaining fields so the masters can feel fine racing in other slots

the prices are tuff enuff that my evening activity is looking up possible sponsorship opportunities and sending them to john
i once paid $3k to reverse a venue’s policy on charging $10/car for parking. super grateful we still made money but I’m baffled that didn’t teach me to ask for sponsorship

my personal take is john is about to sink and incredible amount of resources into New England biking and whether it affects all of us or some of us remains to be seen
to give a small taste of my thoughts on this:
- the current scene has lots of pain and complaints and frankly minimal solutions the past fourever years
- there’s definitely money out there, it sounds like it’s not in the most helpful spots
- both of those points equals the sport is gonna change

faulkner got her start riding and racing in a park in nyc because its the safest place to ride and now her racing is all europe
