When Rob Reiner was on his all-time epic run at the start of his career, he had an opportunity to read a script that was looking for a production partner, and he lost his mind for it. He decided Castle Rock had to have it, no matter what.

Hallmark’s A GRAND OLE OPRY CHRISTMAS was better than average thanks to a great cast, the Opry setting, and accompanying country stars. Wasn’t perfect but the extra budget showed and I had a good time.

A GRAND OLE OPRY CHRISTMAS screenwriter, Tracy Andreen on how the script for the Hallmark movie, debuting tonight, came together ⤵️
I promise, it wasn't rushed, not by Hallmark's measuring stick. The bones of the story (by Hilty Bowen) had actually been around for years (pre-pandemic) and I had months for the screenplay, which, candidly, is something of a luxury; I've had far, FAR shorter deadlines! 😊

Think there would be lot of love if starting 24/7 Christmas movies midnight on Halloween became Hallmark's new tradition, no matter what day of week it happens to fall on.

But that November 1 falls on Saturday this year, really did make it feel like no brainer. Guess that's why I'm not a cable exec

Not upset, or even all that surprised, that Hallmark is making fewer holiday movies, but for Hallmark Channel, a network that has sold itself almost exclusively on MORE Christmas, earlier than anyone else, to cut their movie output by 52% in a single year is…Not a sign all is going well.
Variety article out now, listing a 24 movie count. So not sure where EW's "29" count came from, as unless I'm missing something still just 4 new holiday series (2 reality, 2 scripted).

Another Great American Family movie set to film in Buffalo, NY, POT-LUCK CHRISTMAS. Zero clue why it's spelled this way. About planning potluck dinner at veterans' center.

Some sides posted online and, "How is it we just ate but now I'm hungry again? [laugh]" actual "joke" from scintillating script

Would say this means with near certainty that A GRAND OLE OPRY CHRISTMAS, Hallmark's other 2025 tentpole, gets a Thanksgiving weekend slot, especially given that, that also happens to be the actual weekend of the Opry's 100th anniversary.

Made schedule predictions before knew about A GRAND OLE OPRY CHRISTMAS, which will definitely get prime Hallmark position. I'd still call Bills and Lacey favorites for Sat-Sun Thanksgiving weekend, but OPRY could slip in there, too. Especially since Friday (11/28) is Opry's actual 100th anniversary.

If forced to make precise prediction, I'd say…

Friday, November 28: SHE'S MAKING A LIST
Saturday, November 29: HOLIDAY TOUCHDOWN: A BILLS LOVE STORY
Sunday, November 30: A GRAND OLE OPRY CHRISTMAS

…Just due to OPRY & TOUCHDOWN being Hallmark's priciest projects of season, thus getting prime spots

Still entirely possible Hallmark puts A GRAND OLE OPRY CHRISTMAS on Friday night of Thanksgiving weekend (11/28), because that's actual Opry 100th anniversary date, but Saturday-Sunday on weekend have long been year's most coveted slots for network. Some combo of OPRY, BILLS, Lacey still best guess.

More I see about A GRAND OLE OPRY CHRISTMAS, more likely it will get one of Hallmark's best Thanksgiving weekend spots, maybe even Sunday night, though would push it few days past actual Opry 100 anniversary, and bump Lacey Chabert from Sat-Sun 🦃 spot she's held since 2018.
