Quite excited for the new pope here. Twitter also records its busiest day in years, after everyone scoots over to see Pope Leo’s criticism of jdv.
Someone should invite the Pope to Bluesky…
Months before Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost became the first American pope, he expressed criticism of Vice President JD Vance on social media, sharing an article that called the vice president’s interpretation of Christian doctrine “wrong.”

Shout out to the home of my monthly column, @newscientist.com, which nailed their headline about the genetically modified GREY wolves

No, the dire wolf has not been brought back from extinction
Colossal Biosciences claims three pups born recently are dire wolves, but they are actually grey wolves with genetic edits intended to make them resemble the lost species

Ten weeks until the release of Knave of Diamonds. My publisher has developed character cards from the memoir. Here is my Uncle Jake's.

My TBR pile judging me when I see a book recommendation, immediately borrow and start reading it, abandoning the four other books I’m currently reading and the sixteen books I’ve started this year.

“I was hungry” and you cut $1 Billion in funding to schools and food banks.

“I was sick” and you worked to gut medicaid, depriving me of healthcare.

“I was a stranger” and you defined my humanity by legal status.

I’ll try not to seem too excited by this upcoming release. But I am really very excited. Less than three months!!
Seen Magazine has recommended my upcoming memoir, Knave of Diamonds, for Women's History Month.

I’m just saying that audiobooks are brilliant. You can listen while doing almost anything. House cleaning? Audiobook. Exercising? Audiobook? Sleeping? Old favourite audiobook. Driving, travelling, waiting? Audiobook. Best thing ever.

Any time you hear somebody recounting a history and they say something like “and we didn't really hear much from [insert civilization herel for the next hundred years" you can be sure that was probably the best time to live there

Walking paths untrodden, my favourite cartoonist passed away yesterday.
It seems a sad first post for a new platform, but your art will always be treasured.

It’s a Schrödinger problem. The cat wants you to get up but prevents you from getting up. Because you cannot move when the cat is on you.

Photo of a man in a chair reading a book, caption reads:
The worst part about growing up is how sitting peacefully reading a new book went from “well behaved, quiet child“ to “rude and antisocial” adult.

At the age of 3, I learned to read and my parents never grumbled whenever I asked them to buy books for me. Today, I have a personal library running into the thousands.

It says a lot about our society that owning dozens of sneakers/shoes is considered cool but amassing books has to be defended. 😦
