On the one hand, I'm imminently glad this play was acknowledged.
On the other, both on replay and by Ragen's comments in the post-game presser, Bongi wasn't trying to draw anything but rather ref Alexis da Silva failed to meet the moment for the second match with #MNUFC and drew Ramsay's rare ire.

To quibble: MNUFC's best ever season ended when Tani was sold during the Rueter-dubbed league-worst summer transfer window.
The Open Cup semi extratime heartbreak was a symptom of that, though it finished knocking the wheels off.
Seattle likely being the nail in the coffin is poetic, at least.

With #MNUFC not standing out as much as I thought given the number of TAMs for the roster spend, I also tried another more eye-ball based split at 0.5M-1.5M to represent non-DP, veteran, starter-level contributors.
The Loons are toward the top in number of players in this window, with room to add.

Looking at share of a roster in each category, FC Cincinnati is finding ways to get a lot of players over the max budget charge while Montreal is not stretching those cap mechanisms at all.
(A deeper dive integrating this split with overall spend might be more illuminating than this, I suppose)

Curious where #MNUFC fell both in terms of total compensation (#26) and roster build (cheap DPs, but maybe more players of quality?), I did a quick look at the #MLS salary release data.
Without linking player data about roster designation, I just used the senior max (743k)/min (104k) to split here.
