It's me! The writer dog you probably know from other places like FA or twitter. I'm also here! Probably.
I get some shade of that, yeah.
"Why do you overexplain so much?"
"Because I feel like I'm not being understood? Obviously?"

Is this a... Hawaiian black lava Charizard? I dunno, that's my read here whether that's deliberate or not. And I am SO here for it wow. It's a very fun design! I hope you can do lots more with him <3

Yeah it would be nice to find takes from someone without so much skin in the game. There are so many who are obligated to love it because it's Trek or obligated to hate it because it's woke or whatev. Like, hey person for whomst this was the first Trek you ever watched, what did you think of it?

I've heard enough hate about DIS that I probably won't even bother. Similar to ENT back in the day, seems the verdict is "not even bad enough to be interesting". SNW feedback seems at least, mixed? I'm more tempted by Prodigy even though that one has abruptly-canceled-for-no-reason syndrome.

Yeah the like "act normal but I can hit the OVERRIDE switch at any time" is an extremely fun space to spend time in. Even if they don't press The Button it's still there, and you know it would work. >///<

It's okay. Not all of us can be ourselves all the time.

I wonder if there's some kind of at-home air quality test strip or suchlike. Because it could be a pretty serious thing under the hood. Dirty HVAC was how we got legionnaire's disease.

It was... fine. I recognize its necessity more than I enjoyed watching it. The culmination of the Dominion War made a fairly dark show even bleaker, so a fun character piece was a good fit for where we were at in the story arc at that time.

The prediction that sounds the most accurate to me went something to the tune of
"Once it is no longer dangerous to oppose or speak out against all this, everyone will say 'well I was against it the whole time'."

I struggle to understand their appeal, but the people who are into them seem REAL into them. Happy for them <3

And committing to work on it for only a short period can help prevent the "it's too much" barrier to entry. Starting is often harder than continuing, so yeah, try it out for a few minutes~

I'm ending up trapped in mysterious orbs slightly more than usual 🤔

So what you're saying is we need metric time~

“Check out this Verge article about The Ploopy Knob” is the least appealing sentence I've ever heard. And yet, it seems to be a practical device.
November 12, 2025 at 8:03 PM
Yeah, that's what I mean by the world keeps turning. I've also spent a few stretches being... disengaged, and it can feel like you're way behind the curve when you're trying to come back. I've focused mostly on The Gang, just like 6 people who live near me, and that helped with the daunting feeling.

There's certainly potential there. No radars is a big advancement. And the idea that something with all the necessary compute inside the headset and it's STILL substantially lighter than the Index is a pretty big deal. If they can pull it off at this pricepoint they've got something good.
November 12, 2025 at 7:48 PM
I hate it and you're probably correct.
November 12, 2025 at 7:46 PM
Wow, I didn't realize that we were orb-close. I'm honored <3
November 12, 2025 at 7:44 PM
It can feel like you're getting passed by, but really it's more like... the world keeps turning whether you're participating or not. So if a big social pantheon is overwhelming, focus on a smaller one.
November 12, 2025 at 7:39 PM
I've run into some of that a few times around here. It's great having so many furries in a basically-reachable distance, but having that BIG of a social circle can be overwhelming. And yeah, there are inevitably a lot of dynamics that you're not involved in just because there's only one of you.

I've seen similar recommendations of the Animorphs series as a TERF alternative. Hard-hitting and realistic explorations of the costs of war, complicated morality among the heroes and villains both, long and satisfying character arcs, it's just a GOOD series.
