What a story from Carl Nassib, detailing a particular display of allyship from the Cleveland Browns’ offensive line before they even knew he was out. And kudos to Ryan Clark, Channing Crowder and Fred Taylor for channeling that same vibe. It’s what I saw in Tampa too.

I could be wrong about this but I really think most Americans do not want to be forced to “do their own research” about food & drug & product safety and would rather that the government agencies that have been sorting that all out for them for decades not be obliterated in the name of “efficiency.”

It’s really unfortunate that Sinners seems to be entering the “beyond criticism” phase of a cultural moment because I really thought it was 3.5/5⭐️ at best…

Absolutely love the trade into the Mason Graham pick. If they hit in the 2nd round it’ll be Berry’s best draft.

I’d like to be on record it would be much better for the NFL if Abdul Carter went to Cleveland and played with/learned from Myles Garrett, and Travis Hunter got to be in New York

I’m missing something about Sinners that got it its rave reviews… the genre mash-up doesn’t work for me.

Thriller horror, I prefer Hereditary. Drama that focuses on Jim Crow racism, I prefer Mudbound. Vampires, Midnight Mass (a show rather than a movie, but still…)

Rewatched Chernobyl last night and got to re-experience just how amazing that show is. Basically flawless from top to bottom.

Nobody can convince me that the Star Wars franchise runs on anything other than nostalgia. These movies simply aren’t good, and I’ve never been so disappointed at something so hyped up.

I think my favorite part of Cory Booker’s 24 hour speech was the ninety minutes he did this morning on why NFL teams are unserious if they’re running the ball on first down in neutral game script. Inspiring.

With the rise in sophistication of AI content, I wonder if a market will open up for human-created art and media.

It seems like there’s potential for the “human side” of art and media to be something of a premium, even if the content itself is largely similar to AI.

Finally got my dissertation defense scheduled after a hectic semester getting everything together. I wasn’t sure if I’d make some of these deadlines

How many people who work at the Heritage Foundation don't have postsecondary education? Do you think they are telling *their* kids to skip college in order to have more babies? It's always someone else's sacrifice.
Heritage: "reducing federal higher education subsidies and loan cancellation that place the federal thumb on the scale in favor of spending years in postsecondary work of questionable value will help young Americans to start and expand their families." www.heritage.org/education/re...

Did any of the Democratic leadership even read Project 2025 so they could plan for it or did they just use it as an empty talking point for months?
How was there no post election meeting just doing simple things like "when they harm funding for X, here's how we find people hurt and talk about it"?
“We’re obviously in a bit of disarray,” a Democratic senator told Semafor. “I don’t think people are really completely sure about what lesson is to be learned in this election.”

“Give us a little time,” Senate Minority Whip Dick Durbin also said. “This is brand new.”

This move to cripple the citizen initiative is an attempt to bulldoze an essential constitutional check on the power of the legislature

The destruction of constitutional checks is what an authoritarian movement does to cement its power so it can rule in contempt of what the people's want
DeSantis proposal could kill off citizen-led initiatives in Florida by providing "that people could only complete a petition in person at an elections office, or by requesting a petition in a process similar to vote-by-mail." www.tampabay.com/news/florida...
DeSantis' proposals for Florida’s ballot initiative process could effectively end it
The governor’s proposals include eliminating signature gathering as it exists now.

One of my favorite things about arguing in a diverse (in many respects) friend group is distilling PolSci arguments & theories into digestible, non-technical language.

If I can’t make a good argument to someone while holding point in Marvel Rivals, I don’t understand it well enough myself.

Lotta mask off moments coming in Trump 2.
Deflating -- but clarifying -- to see even mainstream libertarians like Cowen embrace bigoted buffoons like Rufo and Hanania. Cowen has long positioned himself as a champion of immigrants. Publicly praising Rufo after the Springfield debacle is a choice.
