Beans on Toast

Under the (fluffy, black and feline) paw. Very fond of beans on toast. Intermittent quiddler and dedicated hurkle-durkler. Views are my own, reposts aren't endorsements.

@spurtle.bsky.social I've just seen the position of the big wheel in East Princes Street Gardens. It's right next to two mature trees - how on earth has this been approved as surely it must be damaging them. Sorry for the poor quality photo, it was taken from a moving tram.

It's lovely! And not too far away from Worcester, Great Malvern station is well worth a visit for the carvings alone.

My fluffy goblin is ecstatic about Black Cat Day!

Your cat is beautiful! I'll try your trick with my own goblin. She certainly leaves enough fur lying around...

To cool a cat down, Cats Protection recommends freezing a bottle of water, wrapping it in a towel, and placing it near (never on) a cat that's lying down. Am trying it for my cat now who has a very thick fur coat (photo for evidence). Would probably work for dogs (who aren't running around) too!

McDonald Road and Leith Libraries in Edinburgh. Beautiful historical buildings, pleasant and helpful staff, and a great range of books. I make sure that I use both regularly since they are always under threat of budget cuts. I appreciate what I have as I know many people don't have a library now.

@edinburghcouncil.bsky.social Hi, it's 12th January and the publicly owned East Princes Street Gardens still looks like a building site and is closed off to the public. It looks absolutely terrible. When will it reopen please with restorative work completed? #edinburgh #hogmanay

If she didn't crash the economy, why did the Daily Star's lettuce last longer than her?

The circular staircase at Fortnum & Mason with a nice Christmas tree and shiny dancing pine cones. The music choice is a bit odd though!

I see that the extra #edinburghtrams during the morning commute are going really well...not. 15 minutes between trams is exceptionally poor.

I like the fact that the ghost signs are being displayed so much more. They're lovely, a d it feels respectful of the past. This is on the corner of Leith Walk and Balfour Street.
