I do think people should be able to run ads for VPNs if they want but if the copy explains how you can use a VPN to watch netflix from another country they should have to also put out a video explaining how to use bittorrent

Environment Canada has a new colour-coded alert system and it's a shame that every time I yellow alert I think "yellow snow"

It's fine though because today we have an orange alert instead

A thing I was thinking about while watching the new Posy video is how much the video stands out from other YouTube videos in terms of production. The care in how things are shot is basically unparalleled. You can put in time and make things look good!

when will someone implement the correct album shuffle?

A good album shuffle should weigh singles/EPs higher for the first album in the queue as I'm going to be less picky about something short and then will be away from the controls by the time it plays a longer album and will be fine with whatever

"Artificial Intelligence Minister Evan Solomon says an internally-developed AI platform is being used to translate and summarize more than 11,000 comments the government received through its public consultation [on AI policy]."

Wow, what could go wrong?

Every so often I remember that the premise of Cheaper by the Dozen 2 is that Steve Martin's character discovered he had 12 more kids and I think "we used to make movies in this country"

People talk about the beauty of fall, when the leaves turn from green to red. Nobody is talking about the beauty of the few weeks after American Thanksgiving where the posts imploring me not to use Spotify turn into posts begging me not to watch The Game Awards

truly the big giveaway here is the LLMs didn't even teach people what en-dashes are or where they might want to use them

It's cool that the city needed a vote on this and people who didn't even live downtown voted against it and now it's just way easier to navigate downtown and the cars weren't even impacted

anyway, the other sin of all these various 'wrappeds' other than them being surveillance-based advertising for services in place of any sort of personality or discussion about what you enjoy is why are you doing a year in review that cuts out a month+ of the year?

Don't let companies like Meta try to lie to you. They are not about algorithmic short video feeds
social media exists for 3 and exactly 3 reasons:
1) a place to talk about social media
2) a place that destroys all context and nuance
3) a place to find like-minded individuals to instigate harassment campaigns

here's the problem with the criterion closet: everyone always takes and nobody ever gives.

i think the funny thing about sharing spotify/whatever wrapped stuff is like, maybe you get something out of what a bunch of tracked data about you says but why would I? You can just tell me what music you liked and it will mean way more than that screenshot ever could

letterbox is a pretty "it's a website" site which I appreciate greatly but it still is occasionally baffling to me.

I get why I might want to tag a watch—maybe it's part of some event, maybe I saw it at my beloved local theatre, whatever. Why is the default tag 'netflix'?
