NY lawyer. Sued Trump derivatively o/b/o U.S. on Jan. 19, 2021. Biden's DOJ moved to dismiss my case. Years later, they tried to prosecute Trump. How'd that turn out, General Garland?
Remember that King Charles wants to visit the U.S. in 2026.

Oh, if he had lived for this hour.

“Hardly anyone gives a crap what language anyone else is speaking.”
I wish this were so.
But ICE and its ilk, unfortunately, seem to care.
Ask LA, Chicago.

Really?
An English military expedition (in 1585) spoke mostly Algonquin?

"250 years" is not correct.
Spanish arrived in what is now the United States less than 100 years before English did. (The Roanoke colony was established in 1587.)
So the specific statistic is way wrong. But the overall point is valid--that in the United States, Spanish predated English.

Don’t repeat the notion that Trump is scary.
He thrives on fear. Do not spread that message.
Say what you really mean: dishonest, selfish, damaging, harmful, unethical, immoral, cruel… (I could go on, and on).
November 11, 2025 at 4:22 PM
And that’s a silly question.
Why do you think a Senator has any leverage in the House?
The oldest enmity in Washington is between the Senate and “the other body.” Each house guards its prerogatives jealously—as it should.
I’ve never seen a Senate UC that required the House to do anything.

The CR will fund LIHEAP. The NH and Maine senators would not have voted for it otherwise.
November 11, 2025 at 3:24 AM
Well, if Paul gets an amendment, do other Senators too?

Fighting for Americans? Really?
November 10, 2025 at 1:04 PM
And if you tell Trump, your boss, that his plan has a flaw, he's not likely to want you around much longer.
November 10, 2025 at 12:05 PM
Doing it again in February & March might make sense though.
Closer to the midterms.

Yes, he was swearing in new servicemembers. At a professional-football game.
Presumably someone thought this would work, as a public-relations stunt.
But no, the booing was thunderous.
So the swearing-in was ruined. #ETTD

2. Democratic Senators cannot just demand that the House do something. They have no leverage to force that. So even if an ACA extension were to pass the Senate, then absolutely, it will go nowhere in the House unless other leverage is applied there. (E.g., discharge petition.)
November 9, 2025 at 11:53 PM
A few thoughts:
1. This is not about good faith in the Senate. Or a promise. Whatever the ACA vote will be, will be entered as a unanimous-consent agreement--I assume tonight. So let's see the text of that, before crying doom, as to the Senate reneging?

Do not cave!

Sometimes you have to let events make very clear, to the hostages, who exactly is taking them hostage and at what expense.
November 9, 2025 at 7:00 PM
Hmm.
Dems get either
1. a month of American voters finding out, with Dems saving the day in December(_after_ people have had to pay one month’s GOP-hiked premium), or
2. a year of 40M Americans trying to pay premiums they can’t afford.
November 9, 2025 at 6:58 PM
Oh, wait. Thune just moved to proceed to HR 5371.
Now the quorum call.
Is this any different from other sessions recently?
November 9, 2025 at 6:45 PM
Wake me up when the quorum call ends?
November 9, 2025 at 6:40 PM
Which bills?
Ag/FDA, MilCon, and Leg Branch?
Moving Ag/FDA might address the SNAP issues.
Then does the House come back in to pass them? Or will these be identical to the House-passed bills (_very_ unlikely)?
November 9, 2025 at 6:36 PM
Let’s see how many Dem Senate candidates this year—in open or GOP seats—pledge that they will not support Schumer as leader.
In a contested primary that might be a useful card.
November 9, 2025 at 5:17 PM
And your control set is…?
November 9, 2025 at 5:06 PM
Pew: “But Democrats are more critical of their Senate leader: 39% say they have a negative view of Schumer, while slightly fewer (35%) say they have a positive view.
Schumer’s rating among Democrats has grown substantially more negative over the last year.”
November 9, 2025 at 4:58 PM
Because, being politicians, Senators notice when another Senator completely loses the political plot, misreads his own largest city, and won’t even support the Democratic Party nominee there.
