The latest chapter of the Fractal America anthology involves asteroid mining, orbital forging, and some good old gambling degeneracy.

If you've never been to a pro indoor lacrosse game, I'd highly recommend it. It's hyperreal in a very fun way, even (perhaps especially) if you don't know all the rules like I do

We need more popular media about Mesoamerican history. A few ideas:

(1) A political thriller set between the (mostly) Cold War between Tikal and Calakmul during the Classical Maya period.

(2) A Biblical-style epic on the migration of the Aztecs

(3) An anthology series on the Aztec Flower Wars

TIL that there are quite a few sovereign citizens who have Swiss bank accounts. I'm curious as to how they got those resources, but given their love of admiralty law, I'm going to imagine some old-school piracy.

Convinced that the "Niagara Falls Information Centers" are just money-laundering fronts. Why else would there be one in Erie, PA???

Chekhov's gun is an overwrought trope, but it is a lot of fun when it has at least 2 barrels

Cannot stop listening to Mermaids by Florence and the Machine; maybe their best song ever, and certainly their best since the Lungs album. It's just so beautifully haunting

Few things feel better than cranking out 3k words in a day. Sadly, my (belated) Star Wars Day post still isn't done after that

Figured out what I'm going to write about for my (mostly) annual Star Wars Day medium post. Looking forward to publishing it and hopefully the next Fractal America chapter next week

Just read the first chapter of Cinema Speculation.

Not only does it explain a lot about why Tarantino is who he is, but his dialogue skills really flow onto the page.

Have to say I was a bit disappointed by the Horizon Forbidden West DLC.

Some fun tidbits like the forensic investigation/treasure hunt with the Oseram delvers, but a very short story with few side quests, especially compared to the first game's DLC

What's everyone's dream "fuck off and disappear" destination?

Mine is Sitka, Alaska. Small, incredibly temperate weather (a dozen days a year below freezing or above 70°F), and in the middle of a giant nature preserve.

St. Helena is kind of tempting too.

Messing around with the Tennessine flag creator and I came up with this for Athens (the owl is a pre-existing asset; I'm not nearly good enough to make it myself)
