LOVE LOVE LOVE shutting down a device forcefully by holding the power button down for 5-10 seconds. It really feels like you're snuffing the life out of it like that. Like c'mere baby let mommy choke you out, there's a good little laptop.

people are so credulous it's insane. obviously covid doesn't increase your chance of having a mental disorder (whatever that means) by 40%, because basically everyone has gotten covid now and suicide rates have not jumped significantly.

new bio
"writing code to solve a problem" used to have "understanding the problem" as a prerequisite. but vibecoding allows solution-shaped objects to be produced without any of the hard-won understanding. beware of solution-shaped objects.

996 is good as long as you take 2 month breaks every 3 weeks
The grind culture that birthed many Big Tech companies from Google to Amazon is back.

As the AI race heats up, startups are promoting hardcore cultures like “996,” or working 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., six days a week.
Why these companies insist on a 72-hour work week
Start-ups are promoting hardcore cultures such as “996,” meaning working from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. six days a week, as they race to compete in AI.

problem was the new rust library is ~async~ meaning it needs multiple threads running even when it's not doing anything meaning it shits the bed on fork()

girl wearing a t-shirt that says this
nobody ever actually consents to sex, and if they did it wouldn't matter. consent is a euphemism for mindreading. having sex with someone you can't mindread is often rape, regardless of if they technically consent.
What's some fun/important info about sex that wasn't taught to you in sex ed?

It could be something kinda vital (PrEP/DoxyPep info, don't use silicone lube on silicone toys, flared bases, etc), handy tips (where's the prostate?), or just fun trivia (what's 'bukkake' or 'cottaging' mean?)

I think it's a good policy when you make a drive-by PR to run your fork of that thing until your change gets merged+released. both for testing purposes and so you're not beholden to their code review/release process. if they reject it well... fuck everyone else but I got mine.
