I'll never know why google is slow to respond to "android vulnerability" news like the sternus trojan. Clearly the vast majority of users aren't remotely vulnerable. Meanwhile the narrative of android security weakness is reinforced.

The best OE strategy day-to-day? I'm guessing it's something like what average mid engineers everywhere expect: being told exactly what to do

You can literally make the same salary as the highest-level individual contributors in most companies by leveraging your 3x productivity to hold down two mid-level ic roles.

I'm realizing that the OE movement is capitalizing on productivity differences between developers that are very real indeed. Questioning the strategy of moving up the responsibility chain for marginal salary improvements.

Pair programmed with a junior today. Realized my salary should be 3 or 4 times more than theirs. Dev salaries are weird.

Texas progressives will never do what it takes (register voters) to actually win and hold office. Perpetual losers.

Love his efforts, but Sen. Murphy should probably lean in to examples of corruption that are more immediately recognizable to US voters.
Murphy: "The president is continuing to act unconstitutionally. He shut down some of our most important programs that protect us abroad, like Radio Free Europe, that were funded & authorized in that spending bill. So it doesn't seem like we have restrained any of the president's lawlessness."

Pure speculation but this kind of situation happens when business and product become completely disconnected from tech www.theverge.com/news/630883/...

There's a kind of tech lead who forces early decisions on implementation details so they don't have to think too hard before they pass work on to someone else.

Fact of software engineering: the more definition you give an architecture or tech design the more you will need to smile through big misunderstandings and misguided advice popping up real-time in meetings by people who will never buy into it 100%.

Actually very stupid and ineffectual. Please stop and make real headway with actual American voters.

And if you see this. A reminder. This is not Twitter. You can engage here and have thoughtful discussions !

We all look forward to reading your thoughts
I keep saying Dems need to do a daily briefing on Capitol Hill and fill the void, fact check the WH. Hire Pete Buttigeig and give him a staff to do this.

Love the idea of boycotting the super bowl. Why risk supporting normalization of trump, let alone seeing his orange face?

Tesla removing "Foundation Series" badges to sell as "regular" cyber trucks just another indication this company is built on utter BS. www.theverge.com/2025/1/3/243...

The truck barely moved the needle for Tesla this year.

Surprising how critics never raise the shitty color contrast of green iMessages. Do iOS users really not mind this horrible color?

Annoying that Arsenal should be attacking a CB, Calvin Bassey, on a yellow card.

But Chris Kavanagh, who saw fit to give Declan Rice a second yellow for a tiny touch of the ball, decided that three touchs and trying to pick the ball up to prevent a throw wasn't delaying the restart.

S/W engineering is collaborative knowledge work. You need to develop a high level of awareness about the ultimate utility of your current project. Step 1 is to ensure your work is net positive.
