...It is pretty easy connect the dots from any team's current roster to their drafts from 4-5 years ago. For the Giants, those drafts have not fed the roster nearly enough.

…There’s only 15-20 players normally taken in the Rule 5 draft each year, and they not only need to make the team out of camp, but need to remain on the roster throughout the year. Even if a player is drafted, they are returned to their original team more often than not.

...that should be a pretty easy pass for the Giants. Solid player, good defender, but probably more of a 4th outfielder, which is not a bad thing either!

...players is often a risk-based exercise. They protect the players they feel are most vulnerable to be drafted by another team. Will Bednar is among the players for them to consider.

The 40-man is full, so any addition will require a corresponding deletion.

...Regardless of who they bring in at right field, it's still one of three outfield spots. The Giants know that outfield defense is an issue, and it's hard to envision them returning two-thirds of that same unit while expecting different results.

Yeah, that is might thought as well. A former catcher seeing that would probably be turned off by it.
