Really, the best "moneyball" option- the elite player with the shortest NBA career, is Oscar Robertson. He mostly played in the ABA, so if we're not counting that, it really frees up a lot of options. You don't *have* to pick him for a squad, but it almost certainly helps.

Incidentally, Jordan and LeBron just barely miss each other- Jordan's last comeback ended just before Lebron's career began. Still, if you pick them both, that takes up the past 40 years of NBA history and means you now have to go back to the 70s and before to fill out the rest.

Both Johnson and Jordan have late stage comeback seasons that cut a lot more options than would be by their primary careers.
If you wanted Duncan on the squad, say goodbye to the vast majority of candidates from the 90s, 2000s, or 2010s.

For starters: How do people think an online magazine stays operational, especially in the days of social media? Online subscription models only get you so far, and being completely dependent on them means you're limiting your user base.

(For that matter, eventually BlueSky will need ads)

Put LeBron on the squad? That rules out pretty not just the rest of this century, but much of the 90s. Kobe Bryant eliminates out huge swaths of candidates. Really, the number of obvious choices who'd nuke choices from three separate decades goes on and on. You'd practically need a spreadsheet.

It's been talked about a lot for individual teams, but I'm not seeing a lot for all players. The biggest difficulty is obviously that so many candidates have really long careers where overlap is pretty much inevitable - how'd you even really be able to judge them otherwise?

Westeros divides into anarcho-syndicalist communes in which citizens take it in turns to act as a sort of executive officer for the week. All the decisions of that officer have to be ratified at a special biweekly meeting by a simple majority in the case of purely internal affairs, but...
