At this point with the cost being so low I think in general you may as well build the infrastructure 4k capable but I agree it's overkill for most uses.

Agree 100%... we are fast approaching where we simply won't be able to buy 1080 only hardware (or the cost is nearly identical).

All companies should have a plan B freelance network that gets "in-house certifications". AV companies should be an exhibitor at job fairs especially at Community Colleges.

For us, internal referrals are huge, but you also need to make sure the new teammate fits the culture of the employer. If it's a culture miss-match, both the new employee and the team will struggle to mesh well #AVintheAM

Face to Face is huge. Even if you come to Orlando, stay at a cheap hotel, and just talk to people at the companies you want to work for, get your name in their heads! Also, learn about where the tech trends are going. Attend after parties to make yourself known. Give out personal "cards" #AVintheAM
