Raven – Satanist in Aotearoa (they/them)

Thinking out loud as I explore nontheistic Satanism and hoping to find other NZers who hail themselves along the way 🤘
Non-binary (they/them), queer, disabled, sci-fi watcher, gamer, and non-fiction reader.
What I like about Satanism (so far):
⛧ it's individualistic; everyone has a slightly different version that suits them best
⛧ it's nontheistic
⛧ no guilt
⛧ it's empowering
⛧ reason is a central component
⛧ acknowledgement of and trust in science
⛧ rebellion against the status quo

Why Satan?
Satan is a representation of self-determinism and rebellion against the idea of worship of an all-powerful god. Satanism is a rejection of the existence of gods and a criticism of authoritarian religion; a countercultural philosophy.

So you worship Satan?

No, Satan is more of a symbol. The Satanic Temple actually explain it really well...

Did you know “The term Satan has evolved from a Hebrew term for "adversary" or "to oppose", into the Christian figure of a fallen angel who tempts mortals into sin. The word Satan was not originally a proper name, but rather an ordinary noun that means "adversary".

Luxon even considering having New Zealand join the "Board of Peace" is absolutely disgusting. We have thousands upon thousands of people suffering on hospital waitlists while he cuts funding and expects us to be okay with $1.6billion NZD going to the US? No fucking way

A little about me...
I'm a non-binary (they/them), queer, disabled person living in Aotearoa NZ who loves sci-fi and fantasy fiction, gaming, and learning about history, science, and philosophy. I'm passionate about equality, accessibility, and living a simple, low-waste life.

To be real clear about what I'm up to...

I am not here to promote any particular belief system or support any particular organization

I'm not necessarily aligned with the Church of Satan or The Satanic Temple

I don't believe in a literal Satan

I am not a witch and I do not believe in magic(k)
For a long time now, I've had an interest in Satanism, and recently, I've been doing a deep dive to learn more about the religion. So I'm jumping on here to channel that interest, to collect my notes and thoughts as I go, and hopefully find some other kiwis with similar interests 🤘
