you try to smirk but you're smiling. fantasy football/dynasty mostly
rest of season to go and see how this shakes out but these are two different players that on a team without tre mcbride would easily be able to work together without getting too much in each others way (imaginging a mike will/keenan allen combo)

meanwhile, Michael Wilson is playing all levels of the field and despite 'competing' for those short targets with one of the best short targets in the league (Trey McBride) is actually able to win them while also being somewhat good everywhere else too

i dont know exactly how to prove this but MHJ's issue is that the team he plays with doesn't believe he's worth throwing to as a short-yardage target making him a player with a very low floor-high ceiling anywhere in the vein of Kayshon Boutte - Ricky Pearsall - Nico Collins

as of right now this might be the best case scenario for a player with the kind of usage Higgins is showing

for comparisons sake to my jayden higgins post, rookie Puka Nacua saw criticisms from some corners on the internet of being a 'dumpoff' underneath receiver, but here's what he actually looked like by depth as a rookie:

i've been enthusiastic about how much i want to see jayden higgins, but these numbers after 12 weeks are not looking good. his short stats are actually good (esp for the Texans receivers) but the rest are not, very underwhelming. Still a few weeks left to get something better on the board

Going into Week 12, Odunze has more deep targets than intermediate and the same amount of catches on both. I see this as a signal that the team is no longer seeing him as their future target leader. ROS should be fine, but as i keep repeating, i feel like he's a long term sell.

Very true

those catchable targets were also in the deep area, and that deep regression will come by any means necessary. meanwhile he just does not have the intermediate game to keep himself afloat. this is another QJ

A guitar part I came up with that I’ve liked a lot and felt like sharing while I try to figure out the song around it

This loss is going to leave me in so much pain

More deep targets than short. Higher catch rate on deep targets than intermediate/short. Zero YAC, pure catch and drop. 7 contested targets out of 23 total. 70% contested catch rate. Regression inevitable, but the quality of the Pats offense will keep him in every week blowup potential.

Bought and hung up an original piece of art from an artist in upstate NY, I think it’s one of my favorite paintings I’ve ever seen

Two very different styles, both as impactful on me as trauma

Egbuka has caught more deep passes than the amount of intermediate targets he's had. He's almost got the same reception rate on deep passing as he does on short passes. That's pretty crazy!!

and then sorting by cushion you find Boutte at the lowest cushion in the league but an ADOT that is very high compared to everyone else around him. Did he just pop off because the opponent was misplaying him? Since this, his average cushion on targets has increased and he has disappeared
October 1, 2025 at 6:25 PM
with both having identical week 1s (almost entirely deep ball production with 1-2 intermediate catches and no short receptions), i ended up looking at separation numbers (on nfl next gen) and found Boutte with an very low cushion (on targets) compared to everyone that topped the ADOT list

everyone is quoting Darren Urban of the Cardianls as saying that Demarcado's role might expand, but his actual report showing the cardinals coach saying something different
