I've realized that the base anxiety the base anger that I've dealt with for the longest time is gone... and I've been giving a lot of thought to what comes next now that I seem to be in a good place mentally.

2026... Maybe 10 years is long enough, maybe it's time to move forward.

2025... I feel I actually made progress. I completed one of the bucket list items that I was both excited and dreading, it led to me having an epiphany about life and some choices I've made.

On-top of that someone important to me called me a coward, which forced me to confront some of my fears.

2023 was probably the low, reminding me of old trauma, while exposing me to new ones in a way that I was not equipped to deal with.

2024 I started to deliberately take steps to face the things that I had pushed down into that small corner of my brain.

Wait... they're playing 3 shows at the @horseshoetavern.bsky.social next weekend? How did I miss all this???

Hmm... how much would a flight cost?

Just because someone disagrees with you doesn't mean they're a bot.

Also dehumanizing someone with a different opinion is pretty disgusting. Once you no longer see your opposition as human it's easy to discriminate, and can lead to atrocities.

Which is a lot more of a believable path to fascism.

Is Carney perfect? No.

Am I god damn grateful we got him rather then Poilievre? Yes.

Are layoffs a prelude to fascism? LOL no.. what an insane take.

This has to be the dumbest take I've heard in weeks.

I did not, and honestly I've never actually been up to Prince Rupert.

I think at some point I'd like to plan a little less structured trip around BC / Alberta and do things like that.

Maybe in a year or two!

On the Toronto to Vancouver train, there is no Wi-Fi at all. The train is basically from the 90s and not updated much.

Ontario / Quebec trains have great Wi-Fi.

I loaded a bunch of videos on my tablet, books on my ereader, and podcasts on my phone.

Yup, the train specifically is "The Canadian" it runs from Toronto to Vancouver twice a week (and vice versa)

If i could do it again i probably would have gotten off and spent a few days in Winnipeg.

Used other via rail trains to travel from Quebec City to Toronto.

I have no idea, they didn't even open mine, it was just the bag that held my Tablet and Switch as I didn't want to leave those on the train.

But had to put it on the table and the security guy just squeezed it a few times and waves me through

... then planes).

The food in economy isn't great, basically cafeteria food, the higher classes get better food. I essentially lived in ramen I packed and food I could get in the longer stops.

The train consistently ran about 2 hours behind schedule, but we arrived in Vancouver early.
