I think that @asherelbein.bsky.social is basically right in this whole thread but it’s not just DC, it’s not just political journalism, it’s not just journalism, the problem is that we live in a society that prizes grift and vice and cares for nothing. It’s the whole thing bsky.app/profile/ashe...
Speaking as a journalist, it has long been clear — and more so all the time — that something is *rotting* in the world of New York and Washington political reporting. Actively, visibly suppurating. Oozing with maggots. Even as many of the people in that world have denied it.

Fun fact: if you peek inside the gatefold for the vinyl, like, the cardboard sleeve after you pull the sleeved record out, they printed “THERE IS STILL TIME” on the inside.

It’s why I hated a lot of the “is it horror” conversations, too. Because anyone who has ever thought they were too old to live their true life, whatever that may really be, knows exactly what makes this movie terrifying.

I went into it with the boyfriend thinking it would be a movie reminding me of watching Nick growing up and maybe a bit scary.

God, Jack Haven is so good. I knew Justice Smith was, and Jack was the most interesting character in Atypical, but Jack really slays the rebirth monologue.
