Thanks very much. It’s an odd sort of a job. Pop-up books are also a staple but I also love making automata out of slot-together card.

Hi Liam, I’m Geoff – a paper engineer and designer working mostly in publishing. I make things out of paper, preferably without glue.

Here’s an old model I created for a Jurassic World book. Comes pre-cut. Just push out and slot together. No glue.

Here’s the totally glueless dinosaur machine automata.

Thanks very much. I dearly love Star Trek but I actually preferred the thunderbird 2 model I did for Haynes. Unfortunately, my millennium falcon model didn’t go ahead.

I created a slot-together card model for a book using some of the source material. It was a long time ago now – I’ve learnt a lot since then and could do a much better job now.

Here’s another Totally Glueless automata from a while ago – The Magnificent Marble Machine. Made from slot-together cardboard. I recently assembled one to show at the London book fair and I would completely change parts of it due to learning so much more since designing it.

Here’s a cardboard automaton I started but never completely finished. Totally glueless so just push the pieces out, fold and slot together.

Here’s a Harry Potter automata from a few years ago. Totally glueless – just punch out the pieces and slot them together. Designed and illustrated by me.

Here’s a set of wild animal models I designed recently. Just push them out and slot them together following the easy to follow instructions.

It’s time I started sharing some of the things that I am working on for myself. To start, here’s a new project – a book with pencils and pre-cut pieces. Colour in the parts and slot them together (no glue required) to create a harbour scene.
