Someone needs to say this but....
If Helluva Boss was a much older show, it would not be getting shit on as much as it is now.
Stuff like Metalocalypse is just filled to the brim with inconsistent writing, character assassination, character development that goes nowhere etc, pointless plotlines

To the modern media critic, when a character is developed or shows signs of developing, they must somehow get rid of that one aspect of them in a single episode somehow.

I've already said this several times but it's truly a weird phenomenon to find "critical" ex-hellaverse fans SO infatuated with their first impressions of the shows that they essentially just wanted them to be the pilots forever, as if they didn't have their own share of flaws.

This is an unfortunate symptom of the trend of television as background noise. Same reason streaming services tell writers to have their characters constantly describe what they’re doing because they assume the viewers are watching while looking at phones at the same time.

I think a lot of the criticisms of Helluva Boss’s writing comes from people taking everything at face value.
They assume every characters words and actions are a perfect encapsulation of the truth. When in reality every character is an unreliable narrator and the story is a lot more nuanced.

For all the complaints about stereotypes in Hazbin, so many “fixes” I see just try to turn the characters’ surface-level qualities into their defining traits. Stereotypes don’t actually matter as much as having their own comfortable preconceptions met.

It’s really telling that people criticize creators ONLY when the creator is a woman or a minority.
We have so many creators being exposed for more heinous crimes that warrants JAIL TIME, and somehow Viv is the only who gets the more vocal criticism for the barest of “fanbase crimes.”
